Sensitive & Rosacea Prone Skin
What is it?
Sensitive and rosacea prone skin can be caused by multiple factors. Overuse of active products, environmental factors, allergies, or an overgrowth of the Demodex mites. Each skin is unique- and therefore the root cause is also unique. Remy works within her scope of practice to help holistically identify possible causes and recommend skin treatments and products.
The most common issue Remy sees with sensitive skin is overuse of active ingredients causing damage to the skin barrier. If the skin barrier is not intact our skin cannot properly defend against outside aggressors (such as free radicals, pollution, extreme heat) which then in turn sensitizes it further.
Remy’s approach and skincare products focus on barrier first. This means scaling back on active products (such as AHA’s, BHA’s) and focusing on hydration, healing and soothing the skin This allows the barrier to be built back up, which results in stronger skin and less irritation and sensitivity.
Recommended Treatment
Treatment 1: Remedy Facial or Skin Consultation + Mini Facial. Remy will asses the skin throughout treatment and make recommendations for future services and well as home care.
Treatment 2: Dependent on the state of the skin, severity and how the skin did after your first service- Remy will often continue with another facial. Slow and steady wins the race with sensitive and rosacea prone skin!
Treatment 3: Dependent on the state of the skin, severity and how the skin did after your second service- you may be ready for an advanced service! Remy’s favorites for her sensitive skin are a tailored sensitive skin safe chemical peel or Microneedling. Both of these services scare sensitive skin clients at first but now that we have spent time building up the barrier and soothing the epidermis its time to get deeper layers involved to continue building up and repairing the skin.
